Welcome to 19th-century Iceland — a land of cold, dark winters and harsher truths. The people cling to the Christian faith as their final grace, hiding from ancient mythical beasts that haunt the coasts, mountains, and minds.
But one man, Gestur, meets this world with a smile — unthunkable act of curage in a world filled with cruality.
In 19th-century Iceland, faith and folklore collide. A remote farmhouse becomes the battleground between humans, their demons, and creatures of the deep. Gestur, a naive young priest, arrives seeking purpose but is drawn into a storm of myth and blood.
This is a tale of redemption, belief, and survival — where monsters are both real and human.
Gestur is only the beginning — with plans for expanded graphic novels, animated adaptations, and even a live-action film set in the haunting landscapes of Iceland. With the right partners, this vision can reach audiences worldwide while staying true to its mythic roots.
I'm Andri Kjartan Andersen, the artist and storyteller behind Gestur. Inspired by Icelandic myth, medieval horrors, and comic storytelling, this project blends folklore with emotional grit.
When I'm not drawing monsters or writing scripts, I explore cold landscapes and warm sketchbooks. My goal is to bring ancient myth into sharp, modern light.
